The Amy Gillett Bikeway project could be extended from Mt Torrens to Birdwood, with the State Government offering the Adelaide Hills Council $2.6m of funding towards Stage 4 of the popular cycling path.

However, the state funding is dependent on the council contributing an additional $2.6m – close to 6% of its annual rates revenues for 23/24 – as well as fronting responsibility for construction and ongoing maintenance.

The current path, from Oakbank to Mt Torrens, is maintained by the State Government.

Stage 4 of the pathway was originally due to be completed by December 2021.
